BRIEF // Create a document and supporting collateral that give an overview of New Zealand’s environmental wellbeing, and motivates New Zealanders to take action to protect and serve their environment.
SOLUTION // Our goals when developing this project were two-fold: environmentally conscientious production and excellent communication of a large volume of information. We achieved a great final outcome (Gold winner of the Environmental Award, Pride in Print Awards 2008) in large part due to maintaining consistent quality throughout the 456-page document. The simple and flexible grid, designed with white space around text, charts, tables and maps, allows the reader to absorb and process information easily.
The ‘wave lines’ graphic represents the gathering and distilling of information from all areas of our environment and its subsequent ongoing communication and impact. In keeping with the document’s content, we used environmentally sustainable paper stock and vegetable inks. A series of collateral items was also produced, including a summary document, info-sheets, calendar and banners.
