BRIEF // Design a series of books that outlines the close economic partnerships existing between New Zealand and countries with which it has entered into trade agreements. Each book should reflect both countries’ cultures and resources.
SOLUTION // Iconic, country-focused photography is used predominantly on the covers and introductory pages to give a flavour of all countries’ cultures. The layout is open and spacious, allowing text to be easily read and key messages to stand out. The ‘intersecting lines’ graphic is used to tie each book together. This graphic flows through the headers of the pages, representing the connections between the countries and the overlapping points of trade and agreement between them.
In the more recent ‘China Free Trade Agreement’ book, this theme was replaced by a ‘transparent text’ graphic to denote the openness and honesty in the countries’ dealings. Another book focusing on New Zealand’s partnership with the ASEAN countries is currently in production.
